Callide is the economic engine room of Queensland

We contribute around $3 billion to the Queensland economy

A few Callide facts:

  • 74,199 km2
  • 37 Towns
  • 5 Local Councils
  • 4 Federal Electorates
  • 60 Schools

Callide is home to a wide variety of Agriculture.  We produce melons, grapes, mangoes, berries, oranges, to name a few of the top quality fruits. We have prize winning piggeries, award winning cattle, goats and other animals. Not forgetting the pecan nuts, herbs, lucerne, wheat, chick peas, and sorghum crops that our farmers produce.  Agriculture is the fastest growing industry in Australia and needs the governments’ support to continue to reach its potential.

We have two baseload coal-fired power stations and large renewable energy power generation that keep Queensland in power.  Callide has several large coalmines that produce income for the state of Queensland, and are one of the largest employers in the area.

Tourism is another industry growing in the Callide Electorate. We need our roads to improve for our tourists to be able to appreciate the natural wonders of the area, as well as to link the hardworking agricultural environmentalists to the markets they supply.
