Funding to support veterans

The Australian Government will provide $38,790 from the Saluting their Service (STS) Commemorative Grants Program to Gladstone Regional Council, $150,000 to the Returned and Services League (RSL) Queensland Gladstone Sub-Branch from the Veteran Wellbeing Grants as well as $25,663 under the Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) Grants Program.

Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce said the funding for Gladstone Regional Council and the Gladstone RSL Sub-Branch will mean the ongoing recognition and support of our Australian servicemen and women.

“It’s important that the service and sacrifice of our local veterans is recognised and remembered through these community initiatives,” Mr Boyce said.

“The funding for Gladstone Regional Council will restore and digitise the Town of Gladstone and Shire of Calliope Roll of Honour.

“The Gladstone RSL Sub-Branch funding is to assist with the provision of veteran advocacy services in the region including for their drop-in centre which will give local veterans support which is so important.

“Communities across Flynn are proud of their military history, our local veterans who have served our nation and their families who have supported them.

“Our local communities recognise the importance of commemorating and honouring the contribution of our servicemen and women and all that they have done for our nation. It is also critical that they are supported with world class services.”
