Successful applicants for Round 2 of the Federal Government’s Local Sporting Champions and Local Para Champions programs have been announced.
The Local Sporting Champions program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-18 participating in state, national or international championships. Successful applicants will receive $500-$750 towards the cost of attending their championships.
The Local Para Champions program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-24 participating in state, national or international championships for athletes with a disability. Successful, applicants will receive $750-$1000 towards the cost of attending their championships.
Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce, said that 36 local sporting champions and 3 local para champions were successful from the Flynn electorate.
“Successful applicants are from all over the Flynn electorate, including Callide, Alton Downs, Emerald, Tannum Sands, Gracemere, Gladstone, Mundubbera, Sapphire, Kabra, Gayndah, Taroom, Springsure, Calliope, Coorumbene, Boyne Island, South Kolan, Bukali and Gooburrum.
“These successful applicants are competing in sports including rugby union, equestrian, netball, cycling, basketball, touch football, swimming, athletics, softball and eight ball.
“Congratulations to all the successful applicants, I am sure you will do Flynn proud.
“Round 3 of both programs are currently open and close on the 31 December 2022 and I encourage all eligible Flynn athletes to apply.”
