Nationals Listening Tour Reaches Flynn

Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce will today host the Nationals Leader, David Littleproud and Deputy Leader, Senator Perin Davey. It is part of the Queensland leg of the Nationals regional listening tour, to directly engage with regional Queensland voters.

Mr Boyce said there are a number of complex issues that the region faces, and today’s listening tour is an important step in having them addressed.

“It is critical that the Nationals team tour through Central Queensland to hear from those who matter most – the voters with real issues, facing real challenges and needing real solutions,” Mr Boyce said.

“The Nationals team are also determined to find practical solutions, not just for more affordable childcare centres but more importantly, the availability of childcare in our regional centres for our working mums and dads.

“We are the party that wants to help families and give them the support and services they need.

“$4.7 billion has been announced in childcare measures in the Budget but it doesn’t help regional and rural families, because it doesn’t deliver any additional childcare places.

“In the electorate of Flynn many families cannot find a childcare place for their child, this is preventing parents from returning to work sooner.

“Our communities need availability and accessibility, not just affordability.”

The tour includes a community coffee catch up, women’s business luncheon and a visit to the Gladstone Community Linking Agency.

“Those living in regional towns know what’s best for them – so that’s why I’ve invited the Nationals leadership team to Flynn, to directly speak with locals, to listen, to learn, to appreciate their concerns and find solutions,” Mr Boyce said.

“Bringing common sense to Canberra starts with meeting real people and seeing the challenges they face on the ground.”
