OVER 30K FOR COMMUNITY ORGANISATIONS IN FLYNN

Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce has congratulated 4 organisations in the Flynn electorate for securing funding under the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal’s Strengthening Rural Communities grants program.

The following organisations were successful:

  • Mt Perry Show Society to support the post COVID-19 development of the site for community events and a new caravan park by purchasing a ride-on lawn mower ($10,000).
  • Theodore Early Childhood Centre Association Inc to support community reconnection, economic recovery, and organisational sustainability post-pandemic by holding a family-friendly rodeo event ($9,988).
  • Returned & Services League of Australia (Queensland Branch) Gin Gin Sub-Branch Inc to replace worn out and an inefficient fridge at the local RSL to ensure the safe storage of food for social events and activities that connect elderly residents ($2,750).
  • Returned & Services League of Australia (Queensland Branch) Wondai Sub-Branch Inc to purchase a ride-on mower to enable older volunteers to maintain a local memorial park that Council has handed over to the group to manage for community use ($9,000).

The Foundation and the Commonwealth Government have a long history of collaboration on supporting rural and regional communities.

Mr Boyce said the Coalition has a proud history of strongly supporting regional Australia by partnering with local community organisations to strengthen communities such as Mt Perry, Theodore, Gin Gin and Wondai.

“Every region is different which is why collaborating with the Foundation to support local community projects can achieve real positive outcomes, instead of relying on top-down, one-size-fits all programs out of Canberra,” Mr Boyce said.

“Congratulations to all the successful community organisations. It is very well deserved.”
