Gladstone Hospital Petition

Representing Flynn in the Federal Parliament

The electorate of Flynn is over 132,000 square kilometres and is almost twice the size of Tasmania.

It stretches from the Central Highlands to the West, Gracemere to the North, Gladstone to the East and Wondai to the South while taking in the towns in between.

I drive over 50,000 kilometres a year staying in touch with our local communities and spend around 20 weeks in Canberra representing you in Parliament.

My electorate offices are open in the following locations to service the large Flynn electorate:

  • 76 Goondoon Street, Gladstone QLD 4680
  • 2/115 Egerton Street, Emerald QLD 4720
  • 39 Capper Street, Gayndah QLD 4625

I’m committed to taking Flynn forward.

I fully agree that Gracemere needs a High School!

The nearest state high school to Gracemere is Rockhampton State High School. As the school is the only state secondary facility on the southern side of the city students come from Gracemere along with semi-rural properties and small farming communities extending to Gogango in the west and to Bajool and Marmor in the south. Over 600 students rely on bus transport each day.

Men’s Sheds play a vital role in preventing social isolation and mental ill health. They offer thousands of men of all ages a safe and friendly environment where they can work on meaningful projects while building strong social connections.

Recently I visited the lads at the Gracemere Men's Shed Inc after they were successful in receiving $5,000 from the Federal Government's Volunteer Grants for a spindle moulder and dust extractor.

Thanks for having me and hope the new rainfall charts that I dropped off get plenty of use!

🏆 2024 FLYNN VOLUNTEER AWARDS 🏆

As we approach National Volunteers Week (20-26th May 2024), I'd like to shine a spotlight on volunteer local heroes, expressing our deep appreciation for their invaluable contributions. While it's challenging to single people out, there may be someone within your organisation who consistently goes above and beyond, deserving of special recognition.

Whether it's a longstanding member marking a significant anniversary, a newcomer who fearlessly embraced their role, or a behind-the-scenes stalwart without whom the group would falter, we invite nominations for these remarkable individuals to receive a Certificate of Appreciation. Nominate your local heroes via the application form at: form.jotform.com/241060387294861

Certificates will be sent to community groups for presentation to the deserving recipients. For those residing in the Gladstone, Emerald, and Gayndah areas, certificates can be collected from your respective Electorate Office. Please note that nominees must reside within the Flynn Electorate, and in order to preserve the prestige and significance of the awards, each organisation may submit a maximum of five nominations per year. Nominations close on 31st May 2024.

I was pleased to invite the Shadow Assistant Minister for Manufacturing Michelle Landry to Gladstone to meet with local manufacturing businesses, like Berg Engineering and Isenring Electrics.

Manufacturing in Gladstone consists of aluminium smelting, LNG plants, chemical and cement facilities, oil refineries and steel fabrication with many of the goods being exported out of the Port of Gladstone.

These industries are critical to the Central Queensland economy by providing employment opportunities and contributing to the prosperity, growth, and resilience of the region.
